24/09/2000 ALBUM: GOLDEN STILL WORKING The much-anticipated - and still untitled - Waxworks album is coming together. Producer dr.Golden is still tweaking his way through the scraps of material left behind by Williamson before his "disappearance". Although the final tracklisting has still not been decided, live favourite Hi-Fi Stuff is said to be an absolute fucking classic. In between times, the good doctor has also churned out an off-the-cuff reworking of the 58 second blast The Use of Phones entitled A Tuscan Messenger. Watch out for sneak previews soon... 3/8/2000 WAXWORKS FINALE: "WE FUCKING RULE" Yes indeed, the last ever performance by the Waxworks was by all accounts a belter. Were you there? You'll be telling your sodding grandkids. Mixed in with the usual CockHiFiGoGoBaber stuff was the renamed v. old surf instrumental Director - now Batu Batu, Tarrant's Prosthetic Arm featuring Manny from Magic on whistle, and a cover of the No. 1 smash Goody Two Shoes. Enthusiastic audience reaction goaded our heroes into a final blast through Arches Collapsed. Thanks to everyone who was there. There may be a limited live CD of above event available soon so keep returning. 2/8/2000 CONSUME THE HORROR The long-promised Horror EP has arrived and it's bloody (no pun intended, honest) great. Lemur have done a sterling job with the artwork - it really is absolutely beautiful. You can purchase the CD direct from Heat of the ...Night? - beg for one of the ten limited covers if there're any left. A taste of what to expect can be found here, with another handy free MP3. 2/8/2000 LP EXCLUSIVE! Our beloved producer Dr Golden has had his fingers to the, er, computer and tape machine in a valiant attempt to get the CWW LP complete for an August release. It's sounding like a modern classic of course. Hear for yourself courtesy of an MP3 of Tarrant's Prosthetic Arm. More songs soon. 21/7/2000 TIME CHANGE CWW on stage at 8.30 p.m. at the Roadhouse on 29th July. Good club night a bit later, you know... 29/6/2000 WAXWORKS COMBUSTION DETAILS CWW will be live on stage for the last ever time at 9.30 p.m. at the Manchester Roadhouse on Saturday 29th July. If you want discount flyers, bloody well get in touch. 19/06/2000 NIGHT & DAY VERDICT The Waxworks at Manchester's premier, er, cafe was "not bad" (quoth CJW) but was marred by the fact that there was hardly anyone there aside from the loyal close-knit band of CWW followers. There was a one-off performance of the greatest TOTP theme Yellow Pearl and other treats included the debut airing of O Presents "Filth!" and a diabolical rendition of The Go-Go Twins due to shit sound. Because of the piss-poor turnout there's still a couple of gig singles left! Cheques for £2 to the usual address. 19/06/2000 O on MP3 Get yer free download of the analogue scuzzfest O Presents "Filth!" right here. 05/06/2000 NEW GIG SINGLE! CWW celebrate another date with the third in the series of extremely limited CD singles. This time it's a 3-tracker and it features the brand new song O Presents "Filth!" plus the rather tenuously new Totally Compos Mentis and BIOS Tweak (Blues for Motherboard) (those last two are basically a couple of between-song links slightly remixed but who's to know?). Limited to 10 copies so unless you're at Night & Day on Tuesday you can forget it. O Presents "Filth!" will be here on MP3 next week though. 05/06/2000 THE HORROR, THE HORROR The Waxworks have nearly completed the much-vaunted Horror EP. Tracks are Midnight Mess, A Warning to the Curious, Eaten Alive and Curse Your Night. It will not be released by Heat of the ...Night? but instead by Lemur Recordings. If you want any details about when it's released 'n' cost 'n' shit, you'd better get in touch with Lemurcom cos we ain't got a bloody clue what they're doing. 22/5/2000 NIGHT & DAY DETAILS The details being that it'll cost £2.50 to get in and you'll need to get a ticket direct from Waxworks HQ. Scroll down for the rest of the info. 22/5/2000 LAST GIG DATE CHANGE! The Manchester Roadhouse gig of June 24 has been switched to Saturday 29th July, so The Waxworks rumble on for a bonus month. The main reason for this postponement is that a member of the group is in bloody Glastonbury that weekend (clue: it's Rob), but it also means a bit (but not a lot) more work can be put into recording the one & only album. 08/05/2000 THE PENULTIMATE GIG El Waxworks play their second to last gig on Tuesday 6th June at Manchester's Night & Day Cafe. On stage: 10.15 p.m. More details soon. 24/4/2000 EXCLUSIVE MP3! Feel free to download a brand new CWW track Fridgerator. Not available anywhere else and unlikely to ever be. It's Countrybeefheartfalltastic. |
